About the Hida-Asahi Tour

Located about 20km from the center of Takayama, Hida-Asahi is a small and cozy Japanese town nestled right in the center of Hida’s bounty of nature.  Join us as we enjoy riding BESV PSA1 E-bikes through scenic landscapes, historical sites, and interact with warm and welcoming people who call this place home.

Tour Price: ¥10,000 per person

Tour Length: 2 1/2 hours

Starting Location: Roadside Station Hida-Asahi

Included in price of tour: E-bike and helmet rental, tour guide fees, (if required) transportation from Takayama station for up to groups of four, light snacks, insurance fees.

What to bring: Please bring clothes that are comfortable to move in, something to keep you hydrated, and sunglasses or sunblock if needed.  Similarly, during the spring and autumn it is advisable for participants to layer well and bring gloves.

Tour Rules and Safety

Unfortunately, at the moment, those under 150cm (4'11") in height or children under 13 years of age cannot participate.

Before the tour, a brief introduction will be given regarding the rules and safety of the tour.  Please follow the instructions of the tour guides at all times during the tour.  Please do not attempt to separate from the tour group or deviate from the tour path. 

Allergies and Medical Conditions

A light snack will be provided during the course of the tour.  Please inform us before the tour if you have any food allergies that you are aware of, so we can accommodate.  

Similarly, if you have any allergies/medical conditions you feel the guides should be aware of, please let us know in the application for the tour.

Some portions of the tour pass through forests, riverbanks, and other natural environments. Contact with local plants and insects may occur.

Pick-up to and from Hida-Asahi

Groups of up to 4 people can request a ride out to the tour start location from JR Takayama Station. Please read the "Note about pickup from Takayama Station" section to confirm the details.

Reservations and Cancellation Policy

Please use the tour calendar to select a time and date for your tour.  A guide will reach out to the contact you provide and confirm your tour.  If possible, please select a tour date at least three days prior to the reservation date.  This will give the guides ample time to contact you and accommodate your tour. 

In the event of a cancellation please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tour date.

Cancellation Due to Unforeseen Circumstances

In the event of inclement weather, sickness of the tour guides or other unforeseeable circumstances, a tour may be cancelled by the guides. If money has already been exchanged and the tour has not yet started, a full refund will be provided.

Photo Usage

For use in the promotion of future tours and events in Hida-Asahi, we would like to take pictures of the E-bike tours and the participants.

In the event that you do not wish to have your photo shared or used in other material such as social media posts, leaflets for the tour, etc., please inform us in the application for the tour or before the tour itself.

Garbage and Litter

In order to keep Hida-Asahi and its surrounding areas clean, please hand any garbage or rubbish you may have to the guides, and we will dispose of it on your behalf. 

About Wild Animals 

There are a number of wild animals that make their home in and around Hida-Asahi.  These include monkeys, snakes, deer, bears, cranes, wild pigs and many others.  If we encounter such animals during the tour, please always follow the instruction of the tour guide.  Under no circumstances attempt to approach, feed or interact with a wild animal. 

Note About Pickup from Takayama Station

Due to a limited number of public buses that go out to Hida-Asahi each day, pickup and drop off is offered between the JR Takayama station and the Roadside station in Hida-Asahi for groups of up to four people.  By car, it is about a 30-minute drive one way. This service is available both before and after the tour.  

If you would like to include the pickup in your tour, please answer "yes" in your reservation and one of the guides will be in contact with you through the email you provide to arrange times for pickup and drop-off.

Please note that we cannot change this route, the two locations will always be the JR station and the Roadside station.

Also, while we may be able to accommodate personal items and small luggage in the pickup car, full sized travel luggage may not fit.  If you have large luggage with you, please use the coin lockers in and around Takayama station.  Similarly, please know that we cannot accommodate small children who require a baby seat.  

*Please try to choose a tour date a few days a few days after the day you reserve.  This way there is ample time to accommodate your group.
