About Hida-Asahi
The town of Hida-Asahi has a long history spanning back hundreds of years to even before the foundation of modern Japan. Historically, it has been extensively used as part of the passage that connected the city of Takayama with areas to the east through the mountains. Because of this, you will find many shrines in Asahi that once served as places of respite for those travelling the tiring journey on foot.
Moreover, thanks to the natural bounty of the forests that surround Asahi, this place has long been home to many craftspeople and carpenters who utilize the trees and lumber of the region.
While the way people travel and live has changed, the welcoming hospitality of those people who call Hida-Asahi home has not. We at the Hida-Asahi E-bike tour sincerely hope that you can escape the bustle of the urban cities and experience a leisurely bike ride in this rural corner of the countryside we call home.
Standard Tour Course
Tour Price: ¥10,000 per person
Included in price of tour: E-bike and helmet rental, tour guide fees, (if required) transportation to and from Takayama station for up to groups of four, light snacks, insurance fees.
Tour Length: 3 hours
Tour Language: The tour is offered in both English and Japanese. Based on how many people are in a single tour group, an additional tour guide may be present for safety and training purposes.
Starting Location: Roadside Station Hida-Asahi (See the Google Maps link below)
What to bring: Please bring clothes that are comfortable to move in, something to keep you hydrated, and sunglasses or sunblock if needed. Similarly, depending on the weather for a given day, it may be advisable to bring a rain jacket or windbreaker. The weather can be quite chilly during spring and autumn; gloves may be advisable during these times as well.

Tour Rules and Safety
Before the tour, a brief introduction will be given regarding the rules and safety of the tour. Please follow the instructions of the tour guides at all times during the tour. Please do not attempt to separate from the tour group or deviate from the tour path.
Allergies and Medical Conditions
Snacks will be provided during the course of the tour. Please inform us before the tour if you have any food allergies that you are aware of, so we can accommodate.
Similarly, if you begin to feel unwell during the course of the tour please inform a tour guide immediately.
Cancellation Policy
In the event of a cancellation please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tour date.
Cancellation Due to Unforeseen Circumstances
In the event of inclement weather, sickness of the tour guides or other unforeseeable circumstances, a full refund will be offered to the tour participants.
Photo Usage
For use in the promotion of future tours and events in Asahi town, we wish to take pictures of the E-bike tours and the participants.
In the event that you do not wish to have your photo shared or used in other material such as social media posts, leaflets for the tour, etc. please inform us in the application for the tour or during the tour itself.
Garbage and Litter
In order to keep Asahi town and its surrounding areas clean, please hand any garbage or rubbish you may have to the guides, and we will dispose of it on your behalf.
About Wild Animals
There are a number of wild animals that make their home in and around Hida-Asahi. These include monkeys, snakes, deer, bears, cranes, wild pigs and many others. If we encounter such animals during the tour, please always follow the instruction of the tour guide. Under no circumstances attempt to approach, feed or interact with a wild animal.
Note About Pickup from Takayama Station
Due to a limited number of public buses that go out to Hida-Asahi each day, pickup and drop off is offered between the JR Takayama station and the Roadside station in Hida-Asahi for groups of up to four people. By car, it is about a 30-minute drive one way. This service is available both before and after the tour.
If you would like to include the pickup in your tour, please answer "yes" in your reservation and one of the guides will be in contact with you through the email you provide to arrange times for pickup and drop-off.
Please note that we cannot change this route, the two locations will always be the JR station and the Roadside station.
Also, while we may be able to accommodate personal items and small luggage in the pickup car, full sized travel luggage may not fit. If you have large luggage with you, please use the coin lockers in and around Takayama station.
