The cherry blossom trees (sakura) bloom every year during the spring in Japan.  Beloved by the Japanese people, they are a symbol for the beauty and everchanging seasons of nature.  This is especially true in Hida-Asahi where the cherry blossom trees are found woven into the very fabric of the town.  Found in temples, shrines, gardens and in nature, these trees have long been companions to the people who call Asahi home.
