Mochi Making Experience in Hida-Asahi

Have fun with friends and family with a traditionally Japanese culinary experience

Come experience a pillar of traditional Japanese culinary tradition with friends and family!  Outside of Japan, mochi may have an association with sweets and ice cream, but this versatile food has so many uses in any variety of dishes.  Learn about rice growing and production in Japan, then experience the process of mochi making by swinging the hammer and shaping the mochi yourself. We can also add some local flavor to the mochi we make by adding in a Japanese herb called yomogi which turns the rice cakes a deep green.

Once all the hard work is done, sit down to enjoy the mochi with a variety of different toppings both sweet and savory.  You'll be sure to remember this unique way of cooking and enjoying rice!
